Major, later Lieutenant-Colonel Urquhart, b. 1894, of Brisbane, Queensland was a Duntroon graduate. He embarked from Brisbane on HMAT A22 Rangatira, 25 Sept. 1914 and served as a General Staff Officer with the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division (Operations) in the Sinai Peninsula and Palestine 1917-1918. Lieutenant on enlistment.

Don’t know why, but I love this image ... Life goes on despite the weary body language of both the Aussie soldier and the European woman. Both seem sick and tired of their situations; but the eye contact still seems to be intense in the middle of all that mayhem. See pic.
