Private Laurie E. Hyder, a furniture packer of Melbourne, Vic. was born in Coleraine, New South Wales. He enlisted 17 Aug. 1914 and embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A20 Hororata, 19 October 1914. He served as a private in the 6th Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces in Gallipoli and returned to Australia 15 August 1915

All’s fair in love and war ...

Don’t know why, but I love this image ... Life goes on despite the weary body language of both the Aussie soldier and the European woman. Both seem sick and tired of their situations; but the eye contact still seems to be intense in the middle of all that mayhem. See pic.
