D. A. Sheehy was an Engineer Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve. He served on H.M.S. Orama, which was fitted out as an armed merchantman in 1914. After action in the South Atlantic ocean the Orama came to Sydney, N.S.W. for repairs, 20 Oct. 1915. She was transferred to the South Eastern patrol on 27 Nov. 1915. When conveying Australian troops, she was hit by a German submarine ca. 28 Oct. 1917
